| 2010-09-02 | A new beginning |
Hello all,
It's been months since I had not given news about the project, and one of the reason was the lack of time. But it doesn't mean that nothing has been done since my last news (which was published in march).
Since Jully I started a project on rewriting Daídalos. The experience gained during the last two years made me realize that I could do something technically more ambitious. So I decided to restart the project in order to do something more "professional" (the project was at first a way for me to learn how to develop in 3D).
This new beginning will be composed of three parts:
The 3D engine
That's where the big part is. The main modification toward the players is the change from OpenGL to DirectX 9 API.
Regarding the technic part, a lot of things will change, to improve the visual quality and to make things more generic.
Here is a list of features that will be implemented in the engine (you can visit wikipedia for more detailled explanations):
The 3D engine : Preview
Since that the project started on Jully, I had a little time to work on it. Here is screenshots that show you the current render:
In the screenshots previously shown, the engine is well under way (BSP Tree construction, HLSL Shaders, Normal Mapping, early Shadow Map...). I still have work to do on the visual part, but I will soon publish a video in order for you to see this in motion...
See you soon and thanks to all for supporting this project.
